Son birkaç yıldır Avrupa'yı kasıp kavuran SUV modasına Opel de uydu. Tasarım olarak şık ve saldırgan kelimeleriyle tanımlanabilecek olan Opel'in Frankfurt'taki yıldızı Antara GTC (Gran Tourismo Crossover) henüz konsept aşamasında.
Frontera'nın takipçisi ancak bu kadar güzel görünebilirdi! Opel'in SUV ve coupe karışımı bir crossover olarak tanımladığı Antara GTC Concept hakkında şimdilik pek fazla bilgi verilmiyor olsa bile araç aslında 2003'te üretimine son verilmiş olan Frontera'nın doğal takipçisi. Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent ve Satürn Vue ile GM'in Theta Unibody mimarisi ni paylaşan Antara GTC kesinlikle söz konusu 3 otomobilden de daha şık bir görünüme sahip. 4530 mm uzunluğuyla 2 yıl önce bantlara veda eden 5 kapılı Frontera'dan 30 cm daha uzun olan 3 kapılı GTC, Opel'in yeni tasarım anlayışını yansıtıyor. Üretim versiyonuyla arasında görsel olarak çok az fark olacağı iddia edilen Opel Antara GTC'nin farları, Astra'nın daha saldırgan bir versiyonu gibi. Akıcı çizgilere sahip olan Opel An tara GTC, şişkin çamurlukları ve abartılı biçimde bombeli olan ön ve arka kısmıyla Mazda'nın Amerika'da CX-7 adıyla satılacak olan (MX-Crossport olarak da biliniyor) SUV'uyla da benzeşiyor. Bol kromajlı ızgara ve ön hava girişi araca ayrı bir hava katmış. GTC'nin sadece stopları değil far ve sis farlarında da led teknolojisi kullanılıyor. Aracın tavan kısmının tasarımında ise yakın zamanda satışa sunulan 2. nesil Zafira'da opsiyon olarak sunulan ve araç içindekilerin başlarının hemen üzerinden geçen şeffaf şeritler kullanılmış. Opel tasarımcılarının ifadesine göre bu görü nüm GTC'ye bir Mohikan havası veriyor. Aracın profilden görünümü su götürmez bir biçimde coupe çizgileri taşıyor. Opel Antara GTC'nin tipik bir coupeden farklılaştığı nokta yerden yüksek oluşu ve çok şişkin çamurlukları. Aracın iç mekanı her anlamda Antara GTC'nin konsept bir tasarım olduğunu ele veriyor. Küçük vantilatörlere benzetilmiş gösterge panelindeki hız ve devir göstergelerinin daha küçük versiyonları orta konsolda da bulunuyor. Neredeyse otomobilin tabanına kadar uzanan orta konsol Easytronic şanzımana da ev sahipliği yapıyor. Çift renkli iç mekan (krem ve kahverengi) deri koltukları ve alüminyum malzemeyi de bünyesinde barındırıyor. Konsept Antara'nın güç elemanı tüm GM markalarında yaygın olarak kullanılan Fiat kökenli 1.9 litrelik dizel CDTi. Çift turboyla donatılmış bu motorun Antara GTC'ye sağladığı güç 212 HP'ye ulaşıyor. Tork ise 1400 d/d'den itibaren 400 Nm olarak gerçekleşiyor. Şimdilik konsept bir çalışma olarak gözüken 1.9 litrelik çift turbolu CDTi, biturbolarda olduğu gibi turbo sistemini paralel değil fakat sıralı olarak kullanıyor. Bunun anlamıysa çift turbonun aynı anda devreye girmemesi, düşük devirler için ayrı, yüksek devirler İçin de ayrı türbinlerin kullanılıyor olması. Opei'in açıklamasına göre 6 ileri Easytronic şanzımanla donatılan 4 tekerlekten çekişli Antara GTC'nin 0-100 km/s hızlanması

Türkiye Otomobil Sporları Federasyonu 2005 sezonu geleneksel ödül töreni "Şampiyonlar Gecesi" ni, "Altın Yıl" konsepti ile kutladı. "Şampiyonlar Gecesi" nde ünlü sanatçı Neco konseri ile renk katarken yaklaşık 1000 konuğun katıldığı ödül töreninde gecenin en ilgi çeken ekibi 2005 Pist Markalar Şampiyonu Opel Performance takımı oldu.

Neco, Kıraç, Sanem Çelik gibi ünlü simaların yanı sıra manken Tugba Özay' ın da katıldığı Tosfed Şampiyonlar gecesinde sezon boyunca pistlerde, parkurlarda ter döken pilotlar ve ekiplerine otomobil sporlarına destek veren sponsorlarda eşlik etti.

Pist Markalar Şampiyonluğu?nu kazanan Opel, pilotlar klasmanında Grup Maxi de Erkut Kızılırmak ve Grup 1600 de Cemil Çıpa?nın kazandığı şampiyonluk ile 2005 yılında üç kupanın sahibi oldu.Türkiye otomobil sporlarının şampiyonlar gecesinde sahne de yine Opel vardı. Şampiyon pilotları Erkut Kızılırmak ve Cemil Çıpa ile 2005 Pist markalar şampiyonluğuna uzanan Opel, Tosfed' in gecesine Tuğba Özay' lı tanıtımı ve Ateş Dansı gösterisiyle damgasının vurdu.

Türkiye? nin dört bir yanından otomobil sporları tutkunlarının buluştugu gece, şampiyon takımlar ve pilotlar için tam bir gövde gösterisiydi. Basın mensuplarının yoğun ilgisinde geçen gecede, podyumun yıldızları şüphesiz sezon boyunca performanslarıyla otomobil tutkunlarını parkur ve tribünlere çeken yarış otomobilleriydi. Sezon boyunca çeşitli kategorilerde mücadele eden şampiyon otomobillerin sergilendiği kokteylin yıldızı şüphesiz, Opel Performance? ın pist grup 1600 otomobili Corsa' ydı. Ünlü manken Tugba Özay' ın eşlik ettiği Opel Corsa tüm gece boyunca bakışları üstüne topladı.

Şampiyonlar gecesinin alev kırmızısı konseptine Opel Performance' ın sezon boyunca taşıdığı heyecanı simgeleyen ateş dansı ayrı bir renk kattı. Muhteşem dans gösterisinin hemen ardından sahneye çıkan 2005 Pist Markalar Şampiyonu Opel, kazandığı kupaları federasyon eski başkanı Oyman Atabay' ın elinden aldı. Şampiyonluk kupasını takım adına kucaklayan GM Türkiye Genel Müdürü Peter Fahrni Opel Performance başkanı Yüksel Erdemir?i kutlayarak kupayı kendisine verdi.
Bu başarıların önümüzdeki sezonda devam edeceğini ve takıma güveninin tam olduğunu belirten Peter Fahrni, gece sonunda Opel Performance ekibini tek tek kutladı.

Dün akşamki birlikteliğimiz yine muhteşemdi...Anlatmak gerçekten zor...Yaşamak lazım...
Katılımcılar, yemekler ve müzik harika idi. Buradan Ali(İçhedef) abiye tekrar çok teşekkür ederiz.
Yinede yurt dışında ve İstanbulda olupta kalbi bizlerle olanlar için kısa da olsa bir peşrev geçelim...

70 kişiye yakın çok güzel bir tesiste ve güzel bir orkestra eşliğinde yemeğimizi yedik,rakımızı içtik ve en önemlisi eski günlere döndük yine..
Tertip komitesi olarak kendi kendimizi tebrik ediyorum.(Tabi bazı eksiklerimiz var...)başarılı bir organizasyonu daha gerçekleştirdik.
Tek dez avantajımız salonun büyük olması ve yabancılarında oluşu nedeni ile birinci toplantıdaki gibi daha sıkı fıkı olamadık; diye düşünüyoruz.( tecrübe, bir dahaki sefere orta büyüklükte birşey bulacağız demekki...)
Birinci ve ikinci kuşağın ve halen çalışmakta olan arkadaşlarımızın güzide temsilcileri katıldı yemeğimize...

Gözlerimiz Aziz abi,İsmet abi,Gülperi,Faruk Kunter,Nazan Kalelioğlu,Erbil Akıncı,Fikret ve Yeşim Çolak, Kerim,Fusun,küçük ve büyük Funda , Gündüz,Müjgan,Yılmaz,Vedat Sayınsoy,Bülent Pehlivan ve Bülent Kayalı,Mutlu Dölen,Fazıl, İlkim ve Yeşimi aradı durdu boşuna....
Ama onların yokluğunu bu sefer Yiğit Alanyalı ve eşi, Efgan,Turgay ve Ersin abi ile gidermeye çalıştık.Mustafa Gürbüz bu seferde kaçtı(gelemedi)...Yine beklenmeyen konuklardan birisi Mehmet Tokerdi...Böylece Eski Opelcilere Kanserin bile bir şey yapamıyacağını iki eksik akciğerli olarak ispat etmiş olduk...
Efgan'ın çekeceği Opel Belgeseli gelecek yemeğe kaldı...Ancak senaryo çalışmaları konusunda güzel katkılar geldi...Efgana da İlham gelip gelmediğini göreceğiz gelecek sefere bakalım...

Grease-Burning Cars Make Fast Food Even Faster

Specially Adapted Diesel Engines Burn Used Cooking Oil from Restaurants

Oct. 15, 2005 ? Whenever James Nestor needs to fill the tank of his diesel Mercedes, he doesn't go to a filling station and pay $3 a gallon; he visits his favorite Indian restaurant in downtown San Francisco and gets take-out ? free jugs of used cooking oil.
"I eat here just about every day," Nestor says. "That's how I know they have the best grease." Nestor's car burns the same vegetable oil used to cook everything from french fries to egg rolls.
A small but growing number of people, particularly in the San Francisco Bay area, know that diesel engines were originally designed to run not on petroleum-derived diesel, but peanut oil.
"We've been running it on waste vegetable oil from a Japanese restaurant," says another local devotee, Jill Fuss. "So we haven't paid for diesel in over a year."
'Not a Hippie Experiment'
Brian Friedman and Brooke Stewart make their living converting modern diesels to run on vegetable oil. Converting requires some extra hoses, a larger fuel filter and a preheater to thin out the fuel before it is injected into the engine.
Friedman and Stewart have a waiting list.
"It's not a hippie experiment anymore," Friedman says. "It actually works and it works really well."
Straight vegetable oil is different from what's known as biodiesel, a mixture of vegetable oil and alcohol that will run any diesel engine.
Smells Like Thai
Used cooking oil does produce an exhaust that smells like the restaurant it came from. You can tell Thai and Mexican fuel.
It's a small disadvantage for something free in a world where oil is nearly $70 a barrel. You almost never have to go to a gas station.
"Well, I had to use a gas station to put air in my tires last week," said another user, Denise Lindsay.
It may seem a little crude. But the point is, it's not oil. These pioneers of grease-burning cars believe that a source for the alternative to the ever-increasing cost of petroleum fuels is all around us.
And you can get a good lunch there, too.

Entrepreneur offers fractional car ownership

A Scottsdale company has fired up its engines to provide customers the prestige of driving a new Ferrari, Aston Martin or Rolls Royce for several weeks a year without the cost and hassle of ownership.

Van Horssen Group, based at Hangar One in Scottsdale Airpark, has started selling memberships to its elite fleet of cars through a business model similar to fractional jet ownership.

It's a formula Ronald D. Van Horssen, a serial entrepreneur from San Francisco, hopes to take coast to coast.

Members select the number of weeks they want to use the cars each year, for a minimum three-year commitment. In exchange, they have access to the company's stable of high-end vehicles.

So far, the company has four high-end cars in its arsenal -- three Aston Martins and one Ferrari. Through additional financing, that number could surge to 160 by the end of 2006. All of the cars in the Van Horssen portfolio will have price tags above the $100,000 mark, such as Lamborghinis, Bentleys, Maybachs and Porsches.

Van Horssen, the company's founder and chief executive, said the goal is to become a national player so clients can use the cars at different locations across the country.

The average fee for eight weeks of usage a year is expected to be $30,000. A customer could purchase as little as a few weeks a year or up to 50 weeks annually.

"There are a few companies doing this on a regional basis, but early on we decided that we wanted it to be the leading national company," Van Horssen said. "And Scottsdale is the perfect location for launching this."

Van Horssen recently moved to the Valley from San Francisco. In 1983, the Carnegie Mellon University graduate founded Mobile Technology Inc., a mobile MRI service company that grew to $118 million in sales before it was acquired. In the late 1990s, he founded an Internet commerce company, and he also is the managing member of a venture development firm called Cottonwood Group.

His partner in the auto business is Allen Palles, who has transitioned out of his role as president of Chicago-based turnaround specialist Asset Resolution Group, to focus on the new venture. He is a full-time Scottsdale resident.

The pair have funded the new company with their own money and financing from private investors.

A casual car enthusiast, Van Horssen said the idea for the company was based on the popularity of sharing assets, such as vacation time shares or fractional jet ownership.

"I think people think that when they've arrived, an indicator of that is their ability to own things," he said. "We think that more and more people will appreciate that ownership is not really the ultimate. It's being able to enjoy a variety without any of the headaches and hassles."

Van Horssen said his typical customer is someone who loves cars but hasn't been a collector or didn't feel compelled to invest in a depreciating asset.

They see this as a great way for them to have access to the latest cars without having to buy them," he said.

Wealthy individuals who have second homes in the Scottsdale area and car enthusiasts who'd rather collect historic cars, while being able to drive the best new ones, also are expected to be customers.

"This is preferable to owning a car they only drive occasionally," Van Horssen said.

Van Horssen Group also ships cars to clients in trailers designed for high-end car transport.

That's how Thomas Sullivan will get access to his cars when he gets control of the keys for six weeks a year.

Sullivan, managing director of investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston's office in San Francisco, said he became a member because he wants the flexibility of being able to choose the weeks he wants to use the cars, enjoy driving them for awhile, and then turn them back in.

He said most drivers of exotic cars run them less than 2,000 miles a year anyway.

"You are on top of the world when behind the wheel of one of these sports cars," Sullivan said. "It's satisfying on an emotional level because it provides me with access to a variety of high-end, exotic sports cars.

"Variety is the spice of life. I'm not wedded to a single vehicle, but ... get to sample the best of the best," he said. "It's the answer for anyone seeking a capital-efficient way to satisfy their exotic car desires."
